Happy Thursday, friends! How is your week going? I had Monday off, and I feel like the short weeks are always the longest!
In the blog world here, we’re talking color inspiration! In case you missed Tuesday’s post, check out this simple tip for mixing colors in your wardrobe!
For today’s tip, I just wanted to point out that color inspiration is all around you! Look at the architecture in your city. Chicago has a world of architecture all in one city! Not in Chicago? That’s okay! Check out the old barns down that dirt road. Check out the new medical facilities being built nearby. Check out the churches and the schools. Architecture is everywhere!
Still not finding your inspiration? Look around at nature. Whether you are near a field of flowers or wheat, whether you are by a lake or river, whether you have wild plants or perfectly groomed ones, there is inspiration in nature!
I went for a nice run a couple of days ago and managed to snap a few pics while I was out. How is this for inspiration?
To help you visualize how you can use your surroundings as inspiration, I chose the third photo (above) and created an outfit using these colors:
The top is almost an exact match to the color of the deep red foliage, and the belt, which has various shades of green, as well as brown, ties the look together perfectly. An added bonus with this outfit? The denim capris are slightly ripped up, leaving a rugged look similar to the great outdoors. 🙂
Do you find color inspiration in your surroundings?
If you do, please share your photos on the SmartSavvyStyle facebook page!
